project two: crepe de Chine challah dress -

i only ever want to wear party dresses and tough girl jackets, so i might as well make my first two projects a matched set.  if i don’t die trying, i will soon have a hand-dyed silk dress created from about 30 separate panels of fabric.  the shoulders are really the key to holding this sucker together and i learned how to braid them by watching about an hour’s worth of you-tube video tutorials on constructing challah bread.  i’ll keep you posted!

okay.  we’re thinking of going back to some sweet sewing- box- selling this holiday season.  there are a few problems, though.  mainly, they’re REALLY labor intensive!  its time to go all out and start making them as one-of-a-kind art objects instead of mass batches.  there are only so many times that meg can hand-sew a canoe without wanting to cry.  but we love them so!
