First Editions, Schmirst Editions

Olympia Le-Tan is an artist and designer who makes gorgeous, embroidered clutches inspired by first - edition book jackets.  I could say more, but her DAZEDdigital interview and website kind of speak for themselves.  At $1,500 a pop, they will remain on my “in ten years” wish-list, but the Auntie Mame clutch will be mine.  Oh yes, it will be mine!

project two: crepe de Chine challah dress -

i only ever want to wear party dresses and tough girl jackets, so i might as well make my first two projects a matched set.  if i don’t die trying, i will soon have a hand-dyed silk dress created from about 30 separate panels of fabric.  the shoulders are really the key to holding this sucker together and i learned how to braid them by watching about an hour’s worth of you-tube video tutorials on constructing challah bread.  i’ll keep you posted!
